Simi Khongtiang, a self-taught filmmaker from Meghalaya, was born in Nohwet and raised in Khliehriat. She began her filmmaking journey in 2007 as a writer with SKOP and made her directorial debut in 2009 with SKOP IS BACK. She has directed 19 films, mainly family dramas. Her film DATHEH LUT won Best Film at the 1st Khasi Film Award in 2013. Her latest film, KA CHITHI, was screened at major festivals, including the North East
